Virtual Reality headsets deliver highly immersive experiences with their real-time 3D displays and spatial audio. In spite of the amazing experience, all AR/VR headsets cause at least some level of visual discomfort. Symptoms vary from barely perceptible to severe for some people and may last minutes to hours. Symptoms may include eye strain, headache, disorientation, and nausea. This talk will go over the multiple causes of visual discomfort, how engineers are addressing these, and prospects for the future.
