IEEE Denver PES/IAS Chapter October 2021 Meeting

October 28 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM MDT

Schedule 6:00 – Check-in and Networking 6:30 – Dinner Served 7:00 – Presentation 8:00 – Adjourn A Proposed Fault-Current Calculation Method for Sizing Medium-Voltage Cables When sizing medium-voltage collection cables on a renewable energy project, it is necessary to verify the short circuit withstand of the phase and concentric shield conductors. ICEA standards P-32-382 and P-45-482 provide guidance on how to calculate these withstand values but they do not indicate what fault current should be used and whether DC offset matters. This presentation proposes a method to determine an equivalent fault current that considers DC offset for use in these calculations. Speaker(s): Lucas Cook, Room: Upstairs Meeting Room, Bldg: The Original Brooklyn’s, 2644 W Colfax Ave, Denver, Colorado, United States, 80204
