PACE: Professional Activities Committees for Engineers
IEEE-USA created the PACE Network to facilitate professional activities among its members, and support professional development seminars. IEEE-USA and the regions within the USA support the sections and chapters to administer the professional activities for its members.
Aside from professional development, the PACE Network facilitates employment, career development, and job search.
The PACE Network website at www.ieeeusa.org/volunteers/pace provides examples for PACE projects, with the Denver Section’s Expo2011 Training Conference as one of its notable examples.
Funding for PACE Activities
The funding process begins with a request for support of a program. The details of the funding process and the requisite forms are available at http://www.ieeeusa.org/volunteers/pace/funding.asp. If supported, then once the event completes, and an event report is filed, the PACE chair completes a formal request for funding support. Often, the PACE program can provide partial funding for professional development events by the sections and chapters, enabling more substantial events that otherwise may not be possible. Through this mechanism, members benefit greatly.
If you have an idea for professional development for your section or chapter, the PACE website provides contacts and material to help get started. But if you have an idea that involves the Denver section, or if you need support from your Denver PACE chair, please contact Jason Rupe at jrupe at ieee dot org.
